Our Goals:
Assist and support the staff in presenting the Great Outdoor Adventure Day special event.
Raise funds to build a picnic shelter at the beach or picnic area.
Support the needs of the resource library for park staff and guests.
Help keep the park and CSO computers updated to meet administrative demand and needs in park operations.
Help with maintenance needs where the park budget falls short.
Support in marketing efforts through media releases, literature, programs, setting up booths at events, and helping with events held at the park.
Create a CSO-specific website with park information and links.
Create and maintain partnerships with other organizations in the community to enhance awareness and preservation of the park.
Fund raising toward the planning and construction of a park visitor center as identified in the park unit management plan. Apply for the Partnership in Parks Program grant for the 60/40 match of funds raised. Funds will be specifically earmarked in an account for the visitor center.
Help with this year's Partnerships Banquet for businesses that have supported the park over the past year. |
Our Accomplishments:
In 2006 we purchased a new "zero-turn radius" SCAG commercial mower for the park staff.
Members assisted the park with the annual Great Outdoor Adventure Day and the first annual 5K Beach Run.
Members provided ongoing assistance to the park as regular volunteers, performing such vital tasks as program guides, tram driver, small construction projects, exotic plant removal, and native plant restoration.
Funds continued to be raised to support eventual construction of a visitor center and to support ongoing park operations. |
